In the face of darkness, a group of actors journey through forests, moving from place to place. They carry with them fragments of Shakespeare, a playwright whose work has not remained untouched by the passage of time.
We do not know where the darkness comes from. But everything is immersed in it. And yet, there is an urgency: to find a light that can once again illuminate the way forward.
It is no longer Pyramus and Thisbe that this troupe rehearses in the forest, but the outline of another way of being together, founded on sharing, empathy and love.
In the midst of darkness, will there be room to imagine — and to live — love?
A Midsummer Night’s Blackout is a reworking of Shakespeare’s comedy, conceived for natural environments in a site-specific context. In a world plunged into a sudden blackout — a reset of modern society — humans are forced to reorganise into small communities on the edge of the forest, where dreams and love once again emerge as forces of disruption.
