O que há neste lugar?
Series of Gatherings at fAUNA

The “O que há neste lugar?” series begins on March 15, at 6 p.m., at the fAUNA space, with the gathering “Mudam-se os tempos, mudam-se os alimentos”, led by João Pedro Tereso. In this session, we will explore the history of the plants that form the foundation of our diet, reflecting on how encounters between different peoples, migrations, and cultural exchanges have shaped our eating habits and the landscape itself. The conversation will be accompanied by the observation of seeds, fruits, and archaeological botanical material, revealing the traces of these journeys in our daily lives.

Participation in the gatherings is free but subject to prior registration through a dedicated form.

Right after this gathering, at 8 p.m., the premiere of Comer a Terra will be presented – a theatre-dining performance that transforms the table into a space of confrontation. In this performance-dinner, each dish served is not just food but also a narrative – an invitation to reflect on the relationships between territory, sustainability, and migrations.

“O que há neste lugar?” is a series of gatherings at fAUNA, nestled in the heart of nature and guided by the natural cycles that shape the seasons. Just as the space transforms over time, this program is also built in cycles, intertwining art, thought, and research.

Each gathering invites a specialist to explore the relationship between nature, culture, and sustainability through open conversations and observation. The goal is to foster a more attentive view of the world around us, reflecting on themes related to ecology, science, and art.

Through these gatherings, we propose a space for discovery and reflection on how we inhabit the territory and how we can make it more sustainable. Each session opens the way for observing the surrounding environment and the systems that shape our daily lives, promoting a deeper understanding of the relationship between humans and nature.

From March to April, in dialogue with these gatherings, we also propose a biweekly documentary film series, featuring films that challenge our perception of nature and the impact of our choices. Among the selected titles, we highlight “Os Respigadores e a Respigadora” by Agnès Varda, “Judi Dench: A Minha Paixão por Árvores” by Harvey Lilsley, and “O Sal da Terra” by Wim Wenders and Juliano Ribeiro Salgado.

And in May… As spring awakens, we envision an expanded program, with presentations in our black box and the surrounding spaces – gardens and forest – reinforcing the connection between space and the dramaturgies proposed by the programmed artists.

At the end of each gathering, the question remains: What is in this place, and how can we inhabit it more consciously?
