The Circus Creation Laboratories aim to support circus artists in developing their creative practices through two distinct yet complementary approaches: dramaturgical writing and artistic intervention in public space.
Dramaturgical Writing Lab for Circus, in partnership with La Grainerie, focused on dramaturgy applied to circus.
Circus and Public Space Intervention Lab, guided by the Eléctrico 28 collective, dedicated to artistic creation in public space.
Organized by Teatro da Didascália, in partnership with La Grainerie – fabrique des arts du cirque et de l’itinérance and the Associació de Professionals de Circ de Catalunya (APCC), these laboratories will select 4 circus artists residing in Portugal for each program, providing a space for collective research, experimentation, and mentorship.
Participants will engage in site-specific exploration and creative dialogue, further developing their projects through dramaturgical tools or artistic intervention strategies in public space. Both laboratories will take place at fAUNA, the headquarters of Teatro da Didascália in Joane, Vila Nova de Famalicão, with travel, accommodation, and meals covered for the selected artists.
